Lie Not to One Another

Colossians 3:9-10 says, "Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him."

What does the Bible say about lying? A lying tongue is not only something God hates, it is also something that is an abomination to Him.
The Bible tells us that lying began with the devil and that he is the father of lies.
The Bible is filled with admonitions against being dishonest and lying. One of the Ten Commandments states:
"Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour." Exodus 20:16
Have you been lied to lately? Have you been lied about? Have you lied? It's not a good feeling either way! Many would agree that Lying has to be one of the most destructive and deliberate forms of manipulation there is. It destroys trust. It destroys friendships, families and relationships. It destroys credibility. It shows contempt, disrespect and/or hatred for others. In other words, it makes love for others a lie in that person's life. Knowing what the Bible says about lying, we need to be able to commit it all to Him. The Word also says that out of a man's mouth proceeds what is in his heart. If someone is dishonest or lying about you, it's not just words on their lips, but it is what is in their hearts as well. We need to cleanse our hearts from all that is not producing good fruit. We also have to pray for any offenders that may be hurting us.
"But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man..."
Be in the Word, plant it in your hearts, nurture it so that it grows and brings forth fruit.
Luke 8:15 says, "But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience."
