Day One of Island Living for 2012

We made it to the island after two days on the road. Thank you, Jesus for safety! When we got to the island, crossing the bridge, we were greeted by many, many dolphins swimming in the water below, palm trees, and sunshine. It was 87 degrees! Although we've had a very mild winter at home, it is such a treat to enjoy sun, sand and surf. Very blessed! I do miss my boys, who are home, but I guess it's just a growing pain in need to get use to.

Mummu is 93

Yesterday we were blessed to be able to celebrate Mummu's 93rd Birthday with her. She has always been such an inspiration to me and has taught me so many things.

We made chocolate cupcakes with coffee buttercream and topped with a chocolate covered espresso bean:) She LOVES her coffee. When we were little, we always got to have some "kids" coffee with her.

Don't Believe a Lie

I saw this video on the Facebook page of a friend today. It was just what I needed to hear. Why do we let fear overwhelm us so often? I know that fear is not of God. He tells us many times in His word that we should not fear, should not be afraid.
I read somewhere else today that faith will always defeat fear. Fear is of satan, and faith is of God, of the Holy Spirit. We can live in fear or we can trust in God and His promises for us. If we live in fear, meditating on it and on the "what ifs" then that is what we are creating in our lives. I have so many "favorite" verses in the Bible, but it brings us back to Philippians 4:8. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."To remember daily to fill our minds with lovely thoughts is so important. It is something that I need to remember more often. And when that fear creeps in, to say "Get behind me, satan!!" It would be his desire to control our minds, our thoughts, our actions. We can't let him get his foot in the door ~ don't let him get that foothold, else it becomes a stronghold! He waits to take advantage of our situations if we allow it.

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
