Visit to Carlo's Bakery

On Wednesday we made a stop in Hoboken and visited Carlo's Bakery. It was a great time! We were blessed with a parking spot right in front of the bakery, and immediately jumped out of the car, seeing there was a line. Annika and I got in line. It was a little chilly, and we both had flip flops on and no coats, seeing we had just been in Florida. We stood in line for about an hour before being let into the bakery. The time went by really fast, and there were nice people in line to chat with. The women behind me were sisters, one from Hackensack and one from Florida. One of the ladies offered me her coat, which I didn't take, but I wore her gloves for awhile.
When we got inside the bakery, it was wall to wall people. We were given a number as we stepped into the door. It was difficult to see what was in the cases, but exciting to be there looking around.
The film crew happened to be taping the day we were there, so that was extra exciting! We saw them carrying cakes down the back stairs and out the door. We heard one of the sisters hollering with her distinct voice.
After I made my choices on what I was purchasing, (When we stepped in, they were calling number 63, and our number was 90 ~ almost an hour to get called) I paid, and who comes walking from the back, but Buddy! Soooo exciting! He greeted us, thanked us for being there and supporting him, etc. and was very appreciative. The girls at the counter claimed that he doesn't often get to come out front and greet the people, so we felt extra lucky! We also saw Joey, Mauro and Frank.

Now, on to the bakery . . . . I really, really liked it all!!
I LOVED the Lobster Tails. They were delicious. Everything we tried was great. I had truly expected run of the mill, grocery store tasting bakery that is just pushed out the door. I was thrilled to taste it and so glad that it was so yummy!

All in all, I would visit again in a heartbeat! I have lots more pictures, but here is a good sampling of our experience and what we purchased. Maybe I will add more later:)

Yoder's for Dinner

Disclaimer ~ All of these photos were taken with my cell phone, so the quality isn't the best.

These are our pictures of the yummy food from Yoder's yesterday. It was very good ~ enjoyed the taste of a "home~cooked" meal, after two weeks of eating out! I got the pan fried chicken (white meat), with mashed potato and gravy, and corn cakes. I had never had corn cakes before, but they were pretty yummy ~ I put some syrup on, and some apple butter.
Eric got ham and corn cakes with cole slaw. Ben had four pieces of pan fried chicken, white and dark, with potato and gravy and cole slaw. Annika went with the good ol' all~American cheeseburger. Everything was delicious and none of us quite finished everything! Definitely a must visit place.

Amish Farmers Market

We went to this market today and bought some fruits, jams and jellies, and delicious PIES:) (We also visited two beaches . . . pictures later.)
I am hoping the two quarts of strawberries we purchased will help in balancing out the effects of almost two weeks of vacation that has really destroyed the numbers on my scale! The scale was down over five pounds the day we left. I have no doubt that it's up that, and probably more. Oh well, vacation only happens once a year! And the Key Lime Pie was AMAZING! These pies were Amish~made, and I liked it 100 times better than the other pie we had last week.

I think this had to be the best ever Key Lime Pie. Creamy, smooth, rich. Oh so good!
