Some Quotes on Judging

Judging others. Guess I often struggle with it, but often feel in the position of being unfairly judged as well. Either way, I need to pray about it and remember how it feels to be in the position of someone judging you unfairly. False accusations are never fun.

Judging Others ~ NIV

1“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

6“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces.

A few quotes I found:

Some of us are inclined to look to the weaknesses and shortcomings of others in order to expand our own comfort zone."

"Even if we could observe all of a person's acts and words, we would still not have sufficient information to judge him, because we cannot see his reasons for his behavior."

“Your judgment is only as good as your information.”

"Usually our criticism of others is not because they have faults, but because their faults are different than ours." Roger Eastman

"Don't be down on that you're not up on." Harold B. Lee

"We know nothing of the trials, sorrows and temptations of those around us, of pillows wet with sobs, of the life-tragedy that may be hidden behind a smile, of the secret cares, struggles, and worries that shorten life and leave their mark in hair prematurely whitened, and a character changed and almost recreated in a few days. Let us not dare to add to the burden of another the pain of our judgment."
