Serving Starts in The Heart

Steve spoke for a few moments at church on Sunday about serving.

"Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." Phillipians 2:3

He reminded us to serve others for Christ, not for ourselves. Often we do things for someone and then get upset if they don't thank us and praise us for what we've done. This means we need to change our hearts. We do things for the Lord, and in His name, and not to profit or pump up our own ego.

If your heart is right, then you start loving people and you glorify God through it. When you see someone in need, do you stop and help? Do you have a neighbor that could use a hand? Take everyday opportunities to lend a hand. It's the perfect way to spread the Love of Christ. We don't always have to use words. Let our actions show how He loves us all and how He loves the hurting or those in need.

"Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling in singleness of heart, as unto Christ." Ephesians 6:5

Listen to the Spirit speak to you and make sure you are obedient to His voice.

The intent of our help is not for personal profit or gain, yet it does do alot in my heart when I can help. And it's often a contagious gift . . . . .not only do you want to keep helping, but it can produce that desire in those you have helped.

"But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant." Matthew 23:11
